6 Tips for Hiking on Rainy Days
Hiking on a rainy day can be fun, inspiring, fresh, and just a great feeling of connecting to nature. When doing so, one must take precautions to stay well and safe. Depending on the terrain, slopes, and creeks, it can get slippery and wet. Keep in mind that creeks and river levels may rise, and keep a look out for water poodles, remember, we don’t know how deep a poodle can be and if not careful, injuries can occur.
Therefore, here are 6 tips when hiking on a rainy day.
1. Insolation
Wear a warm jacket or raincoat and bring an umbrella or poncho.
2. First aid kit
know how to use it and only carry what you will use to avoid carrying extra weight. Band-Aids in a Ziplock bag so they don’t get wet.
3. Extra Clothes
Loose fitting clothes, pants for protection, rain gear, warm hat and gloves, warm jacket, Don’t wear cotton, it traps humidity, and sweat & it will only keep you wet and cold. Extra socks for your feet for when they get wet. Wool socks are the best.
